The weather this winter so far in West Michigan has been unbelievable. The above normal temps have allowed us to continue to open water fish. Our outings this month have mainly taken place on the Muskegon river due to the Grand being so high and dirty. Steelhead fishing has been consistent. We are having to work for them but that is typical of this time of year. Hard effort goes a long ways though and there is truly something special about winter fishing. Float fishing bag & bead combos has been our most productive tactic and we have taken a few backbouncing bait as well. If this weather trend continues, I would anticipate an early run of spring steelhead. I have some February availability and have some March/April dates open as well.
