Steelhead fishing has been good on both the Grand and Muskegon Rivers. Water temperature on the Grand today was under 32 degrees when I started my trip and rose a degree by the time I was finished. The Muskegon water temp has been in the mid 30’s. Bait, beads and plugs are all working. I’ve mainly been bobber fishing this fall/winter due to the low water levels. Steelhead have been holding in the typical winter lies, and when you find them, they will usually play. It is looking like a change in the weather is about to take place. For the first time in a while, the extended forecast looks warmer than normal with rain instead of snow for precipitation. That probably means a bump in water levels which typically brings in fresh batches of fish. Winter steelhead fishing is looking promising. Give me a call for an up-to-date report or if you have any interest in a guided winter trip (616) 813-5989. Have a great Christmas and New Years.
