Steelhead fishing has been consistent. The fish have been making us search them out, but when they are found the will bite. We have mainly been fishing the Muskegon River and the fish are spread out in the higher than normal flows. Backbouncing bags and floatfishing beads or spawn have been our most productive tactics. The Grand has been very high to start out the month. Hopefully we will get a break from the precipitation and it will get to a more fishable level. I love December steelhead fishing and the big bucks it always seems to produce. Get with me if your interested in getting out this winter and doing some trophy fishing.
River levels are high to start out the month of November. Steelhead are trickling in and are spread out in the Muskegon River. With the fish spread out, backbouncing has been our most productive technique for putting fish in the boat. Also, bobber-dogging beads or eggs has brought fish to the net. Covering water works best with the current water conditions. We usually get a good November push of fish, so November and December are great months to book a steelhead charter. We have also been fishing the Grand. The best fishing has been up near the 6th street dam. But as river temps cool and river levels drop, the downstream water will fish good. Hopefully we will see a break in the rain so that will happen. These fall steelhead are worth pursuing, get in touch with me for available dates.
Fall steelhead are here! Over the last week we have switched our focus from King Salmon to steelhead. Nothing beats the speed and aerial acrobatics of a fall chromer. Floatfishing beads or eggs, backbouncing bait and casting hardware are all productive tactics for fall steelies. The egg bite is on. We have been boating some nice resident trout along with the steelhead, gorging on the salmon eggs in the river. The cooler weather is dropping river temps and increasing steelhead numbers. The fishing should only get better. I have a few October dates available yet and a good number of prime November and December dates. Get in touch for some hot fishing!
