The famous Manistee River is an excellent river to fish for steelhead and salmon and one of the most popular destinations for anglers around the Great Lakes. Its waters run cold and clear with deep log infested holes and swift bends. Steelhead can be found in this river almost any time of the year. Our favorite times to fish on the Manistee are in late summer/early fall for king salmon, and late fall into early winter for steelhead which is my personal favorite time. Once you spend a day fishing this river and enjoy its beautiful scenery, remoteness and hard fighting fish, you will be drawn to it again.
