Summertime fishing has been great on the Grand and Muskegon rivers. We are boating good numbers of smallmouth on our trips with some real dandies in the mix. Other species we are seeing on occasion include walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, gar-pike and sheepshead. The Muskegon is at a typical summertime level and generally clear, running at around 1200 cfs. The Grand is at about 2000 cfs with its typical summer green stain and really looking perfect. Both rivers are set up nice for fishing right now. Sub-surface finesse fishing with plastics is our go-to tactic right now with the occasional hook up with topwaters and crankbaits. August dates still available and some fall salmon and steelhead dates available as well. Get in touch with me if you want to talk about opportunities coming up.
Fishing has been good for us this summer. This heat we have been experiencing the last few weeks makes it feel like we are down south instead of in Michigan. River temps are high and the smallmouth bass has definitely been the most aggressive species. We are coming across a few walleye and northern pike too, but for the most part those have been tough. We have been catching good numbers of smallmouth though and some good sized ones as well. Pound for pound, they are a tough fish and they do not disappoint. Both the Grand and Muskegon have been fishing good, with our best bite coming on sub-surface finesse presentations. I have a good number of August days open yet, a good month to go after these river brutes. Also booking fall salmon and steelhead trips, get ahold of me to get on the water 616 813-5989
We are back to fishing after being shutdown by the state due to covid. We will be taking all the precautions we can to ensure your health if you book a charter with us. The boat and equipment is sanitized after every outing and we will provide gloves and facemasks to those that need them. Trout fishing has been good on the Muskegon and there is still a few steelhead around as well. It wont be long and smallmouth bass fishing will be heating up. We are filling some summer smallmouth dates on the Grand and Muskegon river. This is some fast action fishing that is fun for people of all ages and experience levels. Fall king and steelhead trips are also filling. Never a bad idea to book early for those as they tend to fill in fast.
