We have entered what is classified as the beginning of early winter fishing in West Michigan. The Grand River is slightly above normal water level, and the color looks great. Water temperature is in the upper 30’s at this time. A mix of chrome and dark steelhead are spread throughout the system. Most of our fish have been caught bobber fishing with beads, spawn bags or a combination of both. Backbouncing has been productive in some areas of the river as well. The Muskegon River is at a good level and the water is very clear with water temps in the low 40’s. Because of the clear water conditions, bobber fishing with beads or small bags has been the most productive tactic with cloudy days fishing best.
I have winter dates available for those wanting to experience a beautiful and productive time to be on the river. Get in touch with me at 616 813-5989 or steel-header@live.com for all things related to fishing.
