The month of June has been great for both trout and smallmouth bass fishing. Now, with the present heat wave and warming river temperatures, we will be concentrating on smallmouth bass. Smallmouth bass fishing on the Muskegon River has been good over the last couple of weeks. Good numbers of fish being boated with some large ones in the 18-to-20-inch range making things interesting. We haven’t had a great top-water bite yet, but that is probably coming soon. With the river temps rising, I expect the smallmouth bite to only get better. Northern Pike and the occasional walleye are also possibilities on our summer trips, and we have seen some summer-run steelhead poking around as well. If you have interest in a summer trip, get ahold of me for details. Summer guide trips are great for both experienced and non-experienced anglers, and we love taking kids out too. 616 813-5989 for trip information.

Still some steelhead being caught, but things are winding down as far as the spring steelhead season goes. Steelhead fishing was good from start to finish this season. I want to thank all the great people that fished with me, both new customers and returns. A lot of great memories made for sure.

Late spring/ early summer is a transition time with good opportunities for some great sport fishing. Trophy brown trout, smallmouth bass and northern pike make for some exciting river adventures this time of year. We’ll be fishing the Muskegon River, Grand River and also running some trips north on the Pere Marquette River.

Please don’t hesitate to give me a call if you have questions about one of my guide trips or if you have questions about fishing in general (616) 813-5989.

It has been a great spring steelhead season! With the cool air temps and cool river temps, I would imagine fishing should remain strong the rest of this month and into May. It has been very encouraging to see the steelhead numbers increase from what they had been the last few years. I have been running my trips on the Muskegon River the last few weeks. Bobber fishing with beads or eggs and backbouncing have all been bringing fish to the net.

Beginning mid-May, I’ll be running trout/smallmouth trips. Summer fishing is not far off either. I have a few dates open for fall Kings on the Pere Marquette River, but not many, so get in touch with me regarding availability for those. (616) 813-5989 for trip information or questions.
